The IPAddress type defines a string consisting of 4 dot-separated 3-digit numbers (aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd) for IP addresses in IPv4 format or a string of 8 colon separated groups of 4 hexadecimal digits for IP addresses in IPv6 format.
